Ways to Help

Homelessness is an issue which pulls at our sense of what is right. To be warm and safe when others are not is concerning to many. Below are some ways you can help. Whatever you can do is welcome and will help.

Help Upper Hunter Homelessness with donations of quality used or new items.

Donations of quality used or new items:

Sheets and pillowcases

Doona covers

Doonas

Pillows

Rugs

Kitchen utensils

Cooking pots and pans

Kitchen appliances – new or tagged

Toiletries – male and female

Donations of non-perishable food:

Ring pull canned food, preferably things which can be eaten warmed up or cold

    Two minute noodles

Pasta, rice and other packaged meal bases

    Cereal

Biscuits or crackers with reasonably long use by dates

Fundraise for the homeless with community events, workplace or sporting group fundraisers.

Donations of money or gift cards:

      Running a fundraiser:

Community events: If you have a community event or fundraiser Upper Hunter Staff would be available to speak about our work and the issues of homelessness and domestic & family violence.

As Upper Hunter Homeless is a registered charity (Upper Hunter Homeless Specialist and Outreach Service) all donations are tax deductible.

Work place or Sporting Group fundraisers. If you have a group who are interested in fundraising Upper Hunter Homeless can work with you to provide speakers and help promote your campaign.

      Volunteering:

The team at Upper Hunter Homeless is a dedicated and professional group. If you have skills which you could offer as a volunteer we would be interested to hear from you. Please contact administration@uhhsos.org.au or call 02 6542 5051. Skills we can always use (amongst others) are:

Office support – greeting clients, assistance with admin tasks

Looking after clients in our community room – chatting, providing support, shopping and making meals

Assistance moving furniture or other goods when people are setting up a house

Utilising relevant skills to run workshops or groups – contact us to discuss suitable topics.

If you have skills you could offer as a volunteer for Upper Hunter Homeless Support, please get in touch.
